Rev. Jeff Vanderhoff

Hello everyone! My name is Jeff Vanderhoff, and I am excited to be serving God with all of you here at Bethany UMC!
My wife Karen and I have four children: a beautiful girl and three young boys. Gabrielle is 17 years old, Johnny is 7,
Jason (J.J.) is 5, and Jeremy is now 4 years old!
I graduated from Penn State University in 1993 with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, which I put to use in the workforce as
an assistant manager for Wal*Mart for a few years before God called me to be a pastor. I then attended Ashland Theological
Seminary in Ashland, Ohio, and graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree in 2000. While in seminary, I pastored a rural
3-church charge in the East Ohio Conference of the UMC for 2 years. I most recently served as pastor at Eldersville UMC
near Burgettstown, PA, from 2000-2003.
My passion in ministry is to train disciples to reach the unreached through small group ministry, and my spiritual gifts
are preaching and teaching. Some of my other interests are spending time with family and friends; entertaining people with
comedy, magic tricks, and balloon animals; reading; watching movies; and listening to music. May God bless you as we begin
this journey of ministry together in the Johnstown area!

Lay Leader Susie Wherry |

I am a member of Bethany U.M. church, and sing in the choir as well as serving as the lay leader.
I work at Arbutus Park Manor, and live in Richland.

Youth Leaders Joel and Stacy Shumaker |
|
I am a lifelong member of Bethany U.M. church, and lead the youth group with my wife, Stacy.
I am a Project Engineer for the H.F. Lenz Company in Johnstown and am President of the Johnstown Chapter of the
Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. I serve as treasurer of the Geistown Richland PeeWee Football League,
Tournament chairman for the Adams Township Little League. I also coach youth soccer,
basketball, football and baseball.

Music Director Janet Roarabaugh |

Janet Roarabaugh started as Music Director at Bethany in September of 2005. Before then she served at various churches in the Johnstown area, and continues to work as a professional counselor. She taught school for 20 years in West Virginia and Claysburg, PA. Janet enjoys reading, hiking, and of course, singing and playing the piano. She also enjoys spending time with her dog Sadie, a chinese crested powder puff.

Custodian D. J. Wilson |

I am the church custodian, which means I am responsible for building and exterior maintenance. This includes all cleaning,
painting, and general upkeep. I have a wife and daughter, and I like to read and watch WWE Wresting (not because I think it's real, I just like it!). My hobbies are socializing with friends and hanging out, and I also am attending school right now with plans to become an English Teacher.

Secretary Dianne Dodson |

I have been working as the secretary at Bethany UM Church since 2007. Before this I worked for Bethlehem Steel and Conemaugh Health System, then raised a family for a few years before deciding to reenter the workforce. I live in Elton with my husband and our 2 children.

Treasurer Stacy Shumaker |
|
I became the Church Treasurer in 2006. Bethany has been my home church for my entire life, and I have served on various committees and ministries throughout the years. Currently I work with my husband Joel as youth leaders for Bethany's youth group. I have 3 children and am very active in their lives as well as at the church.
